Te Ahorangi Winitana Biography
Te Ahorangi Winitana is an artist from the southern shores of Lake Taupo near Turangi. In 2013, Ahorangi launched an album with Māori language songs which went on to become a finalist at the National Māori Music Awards, in the running for best female artist, best māori album, best pop album and best music video.
That same year she was a finalist at the APRA Silver Scroll Awards in the Best Māori Language Song category.
She portrayed Juliet in Rōmeo rāua ko Hurieta (Romeo and Juliet) at Auckland Museum's Māori Court in 2015 which garnered critical acclaim and starred in Māori TV’s drama series This is Piki alongside Temuera Morrison. She also spent several years as a host on the Māori kids show, Pūkana.
