Te Poutūmārō is a newly formed kapa haka group from the Waitaha region. Members of the rōpū hail from Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown and Invercargill and strive to lift the level of haka in Te Waipounamu.

From Palmerston North and Ashhurst, Te Tū Mataora kapa haka was established in 2007. Te Tū Mataora is a whānau-orientated collective that is strengthened by a vision to share, preserve and appreciate traditional customs. The rōpū is no stranger to the Te Matatini stage, having competed in the national competition in 2009, 2013, and 2015. Te Tū Mataora along with Te Kapa Haka o Kairanga were the 2 teams who qualified to represent the Rangitāne region.

Five-time national champions 'Te Waka Huia' formed under the tutelage of the esteemed late Dr Ngapo and Pimia Wehi. The name 'Te Waka Huia' was given by Dr Ngapo Wehi, meaning a taonga containing precious treasures, as he perceived each member as an individual treasure of the group.

Tamatea Arikinui was established in 1975 under the tutelage of Piri Sciascia and whānau. They are one of the most senior Ngāti Kahungunu kapa haka groups who continue to perform at regional and national levels.
