Pasifika leaders determined to protect Māori/Pasifika from Coronavirus
The Pacific Leadership Forum, a council of leaders from the Pacific community are determined to stop the spread of COVID-19. They recognise that their ethnicities are at the highest risk from this virus, and the possible effects of it on Māori. Teleiai Edwin Puni, chairman of the Forum explains: “It is a responsible action by our Pacific [communities]. Because we live closely with our Māori whānau(s), in the same neighbourhood(s). “By being responsible with the prevention and the readiness, it also protects our Māori and the people of Aotearoa.”

Pacific Leadership Forum: Pasifika at highest risk of Coronavirus
The Pacific Leadership Forum have identified their ethnicity as the having the highest risk of contracting Coronavirus. To combat that risk, the Aotearoa based leadership group has offered their services to help the government prepare their communities for the long fight ahead. In a statement the forum wrote, “This is a great risk not only to the Pacific communities, but also to the wider New Zealand population.”

Tonga expelled from International Rugby League
Tonga national rugby league (TNRL) have been expelled from International Rugby League. The announcement comes after a year of controversy for the island nation, when former Mate Ma’a Tonga coach Kristian Woolf was sacked. Mate Ma’a Tonga players then rallied round Woolf and then formed the invitational team ‘Kau To’a’.
