Rotorua is hosting its first Mural Symposium showcasing eight talented Māori and non-Māori muralists. The large designs produced by local and invited artists from around the wider Bay of Plenty and overseas will go on to be displayed around the city.

Tūwharetoa trust angst over Injunction delay
Tūwharetoa's Te Matai Trust are concerned their injunction court hearing to halt the passing of the tribes Deed of Settlement as law, has been extended till the end of the month. Chair, Nigel Baker says the delay may mean the settlement bill is legislated before their WAI216 concerns are resolved.

Injunction lodged against Ngāti Tūwharetoa treaty settlement
Ngāti Tūwharetoa have signed off a Treaty Settlement package which includes compensation of $25million. However, the tribe's Te Matai trust have lodged a high court injunction against the final Deed of Settlement in a last ditch attempt to stop it from becoming law.
