    Te Arawa are mourning the loss of another respected elder.  Te Uru O Te Whetu Frederick Whata, QSM, of Ngāti Pikiao, passed away overnight at the age of 81.  He will be remembered for breaking down cultural barriers between Māori and the regional councils on environmental issues over the years.
