    Preschool Teacher Laura Newell confirmed to fight Ngāpuhi’s Lily Taurau.  The Mai FM Radio Announcer Taurau is happy with the new opponent despite Laura having fought two weeks ago and only losing by split decision. Due to illness Bachelor’s Naz Khanjani was pulled from fighting, Duco Events Chief executive Martin Snedden said the after further consultation with a doctor the decision was made to cancel the matchup.

    Motu sisters are preparing for the National Amateur Boxing competition in Rotorua. The current NZ gold medallist Maria Motu-Gemmell will again fight in the highly competitive 57kg women weight division, while younger sister Sally Motu will take on a stacked field in the 66kg youth girls weight division. While both girls are competing at the National competition, they’re also hoping New Zealand will also grant them permission to compete at the Queensland Golden Gloves next month. This will be the first time for both fighters.
