A group of six Māori have been at the camp since last Sunday, in support the Standing Rock’s Sioux tribes’ opposition to the Dakota pipeline.  Kereama Te Ua and some Māori women went to pray at the frontline where authorities were positioned yesterday, (Thanksgiving Day).

    A group of six Māori are providing support to protesters of the Dakota Access Pipeline.  The group, from different parts of Aotearoa, have been at Oceti Sakowin camp since Sunday and have been helping those who were injured in a confrontation with armed authorities shortly before their arrival.

    The head medic of the Oceti Sakowin camp in North Dakota says 167 people including three elders were injured when those opposing the Dakota Access Pipeline were sprayed with water cannons by armed authorities in America. Medics also say seven people were hospitalised with severe head injuries.
