Western Springs College mourn the loss of dedicated principal
Auckland's Western Springs College are mourning the loss of former school Principal Ken Havill who lost his battle to cancer this week, aged 67. In 2010, Mr Havill secured New Zealand's largest school rebuild worth over $75mil. The school says they hope to incorporate him in the new complex to honour his memory.

Calls for Kapa Haka to become University Entrance subject
Ngā Puna o Waiōrea Principal Chris Selwyn is calling for Māori Performing Arts (MPA) to be recognised at the same level as University Entrance (UE) subjects. He says mainstream UE subjects include drama, music and dance, which are encompassed in Māori Performing Arts, so it should have equal status.

He Amorangi- A leader in the making
Tonight's He Amorangi profile features Te Moana Kershaw who comes from a family of staunch members of Auckland-based senior haka group, Te Rōpū Manutaki. He says Sir Pita Sharples has been pivotal in his family's passion for kapa haka. He also says his grandfather, past leader of the auspicious Patea Māori Club, has been instrumental in his own development as the male leader for the National Secondary School Kapa Haka championship runners-up, Ngā Puna o Waiorea.
