    NZDF sends more troops to Edgecumbe

    This afternoon, the New Zealand Defence Force sent 23 more soldiers to Edgecumbe, to help man the cordon which was engulfed by floodwater after yesterday's downpour.

    BOP Regional Council focuses on Rangitaiki River stop bank damage

    The Rangitāiki River remains the main focus for Bay of Plenty Regional Council flood management teams today.  Most Eastern Bay rivers have returned to below warning levels and the Rangitāiki is receding, but floodwaters continue to come through the breach on College Road in Edgecumbe.

    The Bay of Plenty township of Edgecumbe remains under a state of emergency as the Rangitaiki River continues to break through the town's stop banks flooding scores of private properties and forcing thousands of people to take shelter in neighbouring towns.
