Since the last Aotea Regionals in 2012, the rōpū has suffered with a loss of two main tutors: Hoani Maniapoto and Tina Tapa, who were instrumental in the group's revitalisation. Pūtiki Wharanui humbly pays homage to them in their performance today.

Te Tira o Te Arakamu consists of performers from Eltham, Kaponga and the wider South Taranaki area, as well as Auckland, with the majority making their regional debuts today.
Originally established to support the Aotea Regionals in 2004, Ngā Pakeke o Rātana are the senior group to Te Reanga Mōrehu Rātana. Today, their sweet voices soothed the crowd at New Plymouth's TSB Stadium just before the lunch break.
Te Rōpū Taikura o Te Kāhui Herekawe came into fruition this year, in the hands of kaumātua from Waitara, Ngāmotu, and Parihaka, with the aim to boost the numbers of teams to qualify for the national Te Matatini Festival.
