A trip through the infamous Waitomo caves and a crack at sheep shearing is on the cards for today’s leg of the trail as Pio takes passes through King Country.
Pio is back for a fresh look at Aotearoa by foot, connecting with the people and local histories in a very real way. All the while, the unspoilt landscapes hark back to a time when Māori and Pākehā explorers first encountered this land.
FINAL: In the season finale, Pio treks into Wellington's harbour before hitting the high seas with a bunch of kina-hungry locals.
Pio visists some stunning Queen Charlotte landscapes as he hikes from Ship Cove to the Pelorus River. A detour to Maud Island sees him meet some giant bugs and some creative folk carving out new Te Araroa territories.
In Whanganui Pio is busy on a river ride to the Santoft Forest before visiting Ratana Pā and the Turakina Highland Games.

Auckland’s Coast to Coast walkway takes Pio across the volcanic crater of New Zealand’s largest city. It’s an incredible trip as Pio meets a diverse bunch of Jafa’s and uncovers some of the cities hidden histories.
The Russell Forest walkway takes Pio through some of Northland’s most memorable vistas and into lives of the locals who have rich connections with the land. Taking a chance to sample the wild flavours of far north Pio’s palette’s in for a real treat.
