For 28 years Galaxy Touch has been making its mark in Touch Rugby, not only nationwide, but worldwide.

This weekend Galaxy will celebrate 28 years since it was first formed in 1987 as a Men’s touch team at the Tāmaki Touch Module in Panmure, Auckland.

Peter Walters (Ngāpuhi), the founder of Galaxy and legend of the game, says he’s ecstatic by how successful the brand Galaxy has become.

“The time has gone by fast when you think about it, every time I look out to the field it’s like geez we’ve been going for 28 years it has gone quick.“ says Walters.

The club is represented nationwide which include Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Whangarei, Taranaki, Nelson, Wellington and Whanganui. It’s also a sensation overseas, with teams in Asia, Australia, Jersey, Paris, Dubai, South Africa, London, Scotland and USA.

Every year the competition is held, this year more than 60 teams have registered to take part in the celebrations, from kid’s grades to adults.

The 28th anniversary will be held at the Mt Wellington War Memorial Reserve in Panmure, Auckland this Saturday.
