Thrilling win to NSW Blues

The Maroons transformed that initial pressure into points with a sweeping move out wide to their speedster Darius Boyd on the wing.

But only minutes later, the Queenslanders lost their playmaker half Cooper Cronk to a broken arm, an injury the Maroons never recovered from.

The momentum changed and Hayne stepped past Jonathan Thurston, resulting in their first try to Brett Morris. Hayne himself scored a try to take a 10-4 half-time lead in the 100th Origin match.

The Blues started strong and again the Hayne factor led to a penalty and the visitors taking an eight point lead.

The homeside caught their second wind and after some relentless pressure, Boyd dotted down for his second try.

The Blues clung on with some desperate defence in the final minutes to secure their first win at Suncorp since 2005 and take one big step closer to breaking their nine year losing record.
