Sir Ngatata Love has been found guilty of obtaining property by means of deception at the High Court in Wellington.

Judge Graham Lang presented the verdict this morning.

Love faced two charges, the first related to obtaining property by means of deception. The second was obtaining a secret commission while he was Chair of the Wellington Tenths Trust.

The charges relate to a venture the Tenths Trust undertook involving the development of land situated at Pipitea Street, Thorndon.

It’s alleged that $3 million was used as part of a property deal to pay down the mortgage on a beach house in Plimmerton for Dr Love and his partner Lorraine Skiffington.

Love has been released on bail without any restrictions and will be sentenced on October 6th.
