Police are continuing their search for a 10 year old boy who went missing in the Waitarere Forest, near Waitarere Beach in Horowhenua yesterday morning.
Alexander Fisher went missing from the domain near the forest and a search and rescue operation began yesterday afternoon, however they failed to find him overnight.
Police say the foot search continued through the night and the helicopter search recommenced at first light using infra-red technology.
Alex was last seen on the south side of the Waitarere Forest and was wearing a red hooded sweat shirt, blue shorts and black shoes. He could also have a green/blue puffer jacket and light grey tracksuit pants with him.
Area Commander Inspector Sarah Stewart said “police are very keen to locate him this morning. Police are working with Alex's family and are providing support,
I can confirm that some items of Alex’s belongings have been found during the search but there is no evidence of foul play at this stage.”
Extra Police and Search and Rescue teams from Wellington and Whanganui with dog units have been recruited into the area and are working to find Alex.
Police are expected to provide an update on the search this morning at 8am.
