Police search for man after attempted ATM burglaries

  • Auckland

Waitemata Police are asking the public for help to identify a man after a series of attempted burglaries of ATM machines on the North Shore.

The male specifically targets ATM areas behind doors early in the morning where he is able to hang drop sheets in the window to make it appear as if maintenance work is being completed.

Waitemata Police are urging anyone who sees an ATM area covered with a sheet and closed sign, to contact police immediately.

Detective Sergeant Craig Taylor says, “We are also keen to hear about any suspicious person(s) seen loitering around ATM areas or someone carrying sheets who match the man in the photos provided.”

Police also want to hear from anyone who knows or recognises this male to contact Constable Charlotte Donaldson at the North Shore Police Station on (09) 477 5000.

Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously via the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
