10 years of kapa haka has proven to be a lifetime success for a West Auckland group, Ngā Tūmanako.

The 2015 Matatini Finalists celebrate their 10th birthday at Hoani Waititi Marae. And it was also a day where the team and the wider community pay homage to those who have gone beyond the call of duty.

Ngā Tūmanako performer Mahanga Pihama says “One of those contributors is Whaea Bev. I can't think of a proper way of acknowledging her contribution.”

Ngā Tūmanako was originally create for and by the first students of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae, the first ever kura kaupapa Māori. Ngā Tūmanako aim to promote the survival of Te Reo Māori and the Māori culture through the medium of performing arts.
