The Māori Party and the Cancer Society are supporting the call for more funding into screening programs for Bowel Cancer.

MP Marama Fox says cancer is one of the biggest illness that target Māori, therefore,  any initiative that would see better outcomes is something the Māori Party would support.

Former MP, Shane Jones is a survivor of bowel cancer and has been a staunch advocate for Māori to get checked up.

Otago University has released research which tells us bowel cancer treatment sucks up more public health dollars than other cancers which once again highlights the need for a national screening programme.

The Cancer society has also called for more government funding into early prevention, in addition to that, the Māori Party says Whānau Ora can also help in securing better outcomes for Māori.
