'Te Panekiretanga o Te Reo Academy' welcomes 11th intake

“Language development is a long and arduous journey but for the strong-willed, the rewards are many.”

This is the message students from the 10th intake of 'Te Panekiretanga o Te Reo Academy' who graduated at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa's Raroera campus offered to the inductees of the 11th intake.

The gathering saw old students welcomed new students with open arms, including inspiring new student, Mahana Toka.

“Hearing the language spoken on this marae forecourt was a beautiful experience,” says Mahana.

The entry process for this academy is like no other.  Talent is often spotted and selected or invitees are recommended by a graduate which was a nerve-racking moment for Mahana.

“I opened the invitation letter and my knees started shaking,” says Mahana.

As one class exits another enters, marking the start of the 11th intake and their Te Panekiretanga o te Reo journey to greatness.
