Irish Beef Hash


  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 Medium potato (grated)
  • 2 slices bacon (finely sliced)
  • 200g ground beef
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 60g white onion (finely sliced)
  • 300g white cabbage (finely sliced)
  • 500ml Beef stock
  • 120ml apple juice
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. In medium pan heat add oil
  2. Heat over medium‐high heat until hot
  3. Add grated potato and cook until done and remove to a clean plate
  4. Using the same pan, add some more oil then add the garlic and onion and cook till onion translucent
  5. Add the ground beef and cook until meat is browned, once cooked drain grease.
  6. Add the cabbage and quickly heat through about 2 ‐ 3 minutes
  7. Add the beef stock, apple juice
  8. Reduce heat to low. Cover; cook until cabbage is tender. Stir in the cooked potato
