Richard Kahui Joins CODE on Māori Television

All Black Richard Kahui has joined CODE, Māori Television’s LIVE sports entertainment show, which starts on Thursday, May 2 at 8.30pm.

Returning for an eighth season, the primetime show features sports personalities Jenny-May Coffin and celebrity rugby and league co-hosts Glen “Oz” Osborne, Liam Messam, Awen Guttenbeil, Wairangi Koopu and Karl Te Nana.

Producer Peter Tainui says CODE is a vibrant and exciting show that represents sports entertainment at its best.

“We take great pride in the wide range of guests across a diversity of sports that we have played host to,” he says.

“Well-known sports stars like Sonny Bill Williams,  Benji Marshall, Anthony Mundine, David Tua, Lisa Carrington and Mahe Drysdale have all been guests on CODE, and we have featured unicycling, football juggling, cross-fit, bodybuilding, calisthenics even competitive pole fitness.

“We have the extra element of being live and all our presenters are current and former sporting stars. This creates an atmosphere that’s hard to match.”

Executive Producer Piri Wano says CODE will film its 250th episode this season.

“It’s a huge achievement and we’re really delighted that we have come this far.”

To celebrate the episode, CODE is inviting former presenters, including original host Julian Wilcox (head of news and current affairs at Māori Television) back on to the couch.

This season of CODE plays host to current sports personalities, up-and-coming stars of the future, legends, grassroots heroes and a new segment featuring wahine toa of sports.

All this plus live in studio sporting demonstrations, competitions and performances from some of the biggest music acts in Aotearoa.

Tune in to Māori Television on Thursday May 2 at 8.30pm and join the CODE team for an hour of sporting madness and hilarity.

CODE, New Zealand’s only live sports chat show, is produced by Toa TV in conjunction with Māori Television.
