The Board of Māori Television has appointed Alan Withrington, the organisation’s General Manager Finance and Administration, as interim Chief Executive until a permanent appointment is made. This is effective from Monday 21 October.
Board Chairman Georgina te Heuheu says: “Mr Withrington is one of the longest serving staff members, having joined Māori Television in 2003, and has fulfilled the role of acting Chief Executive a number of times in the past.
“His appointment will ensure stability and continued positive momentum while the Board searches for a permanent Chief Executive.”
Mrs te Heuheu says the Board is currently reviewing its criteria for the Chief Executive position and a plan is being developed in consultation with the recruitment agency with the aim of conducting a more targeted recruitment search.
“The Board remains committed to identifying a candidate with the knowledge, experience and personal characteristics to lead Māori Television through its next phase of growth,” she says.
Current Chief Executive Jim Mather leaves Māori Television on 18 October 2013.
