Final whistle blows for the end of Code

Fans of long-running sports show Code have five more chances to watch an episode before the programme ends its partnership with Māori Television on October 15.

Produced by Toa TV, the show has been part of Māori Television’s schedule for 11 seasons and its presenters and guests have provided viewers with a weekly instalment of entertaining sports opinion, news and analysis.

Head of Content Mike Rehu says the change is part of a wide-ranging review of Māori Television’s content.

“We have just completed a significant audience segmentation research project which will provide the base for our content strategy for the next three years,” he says.

Mr Rehu says declining viewers and an appetite for a refreshed sports show were the key reasons for the decision.

“Māori Television would like to thank Toa TV and the Code team for entertaining us and presenting a human side to sport.”

Mr Rehu says consideration is being given to proposals which offer a fresh new approach to sports for the 2016 programme season.
