GIRLS CAN DO ANYTHING!
Life’s a game and it’s all about rules. Māori Television welcomes the return of E KŌ! – the liberated, liberal and lippy series made for mana wāhine that shows viewers how to have some fun making those rules! Premiering its second series this Friday June 24 at 8.00 PM, the Flirt Media production is a television show made for women with attitude. Presented with sass by Veeshayne Armstrong (Ngapuhi) and Sophie Hakaraia (Ngāti Raukawa), the show provides a colourful romp through everything from rodeo-riding to lawn bowls, hip hop to cheerleading. The all-surfing, plane-jumping, catwalk-strutting Armstrong puts aside her Mai FM DJ and Māori Television panel show expertise to invite viewers along for the ride. A vivacious and familiar face of many television programmes and films, Armstrong takes a spin on Aotearoa’s fastest jet boat experience in the first episode. Travelling at 100kph in just 4.5 seconds, Armstrong sets a blazing pace for the rest of the series to come. Meanwhile, actress Sophie Hakaraia visits with Queenstown-based Hana Sullivan, who although has only been snowboarding since 2000 has already made a name for herself as a champion boarder both in Aotearoa and abroad. Hakaraia continues to deliver intelligent and entertaining interviews further along the series with key mana wahine including ex-Silver Fern Bernice Mene, upcoming model Huia Ngapo, mau rākau and taiaha expert Tania Stanley and motorcross champion Katherine Prumm. Join in a celebration of the achievements of Māori women with the premiere of the new season ofE KŌ!, this Friday June 27 at 8.00 PM.
