World Championship winning New Zealanders return home this afternoon.

The New Zealand Basketball U18 3x3 team will arrive home from Hungary with their silverware, after winning the World 3x3 competition.

The talented side made up of Tai Wynyard, Nikau McCullough, Matthew Freeman and Samuel Timmins beat the 2013 world champs Argentina 20-18 in a nail biting final, with Tai Wynyard being named MVP of the tournament.

This is the second time the NZ team has won the competition in its five year history, the last being in 2011.

Te Aorere Pewhairangi will have more details tonight on Te Kāea at 5:30.
