Despite the bad weather and injuries in the Kiwis squad, strong support from Whangarei locals looks likely with a packed Toll Stadium expected on Saturday.

Te Kāea understands more than 7000 tickets have been sold and the NZRL board is glad supporters are getting behind the action.

The Kiwis will face a physical encounter.

Forward Mose Masoe will be leading a determined Samoan side chasing their first Four Nations win.

The absence of centre Dean Whare was noticed at the field training session today, but the side is still hopeful he will fully recover from his groin injury.

Toll Stadium has a capacity of 15,000, and is expected to attract spectators from all across the Northland region.

With more wet weather likely, Vatuvei is expecting to be tested under the high ball of the Ngāti Tūwhareroa player, Kyle Stanley.

Both sides met for the first time this afternoon at the mayoral reception in Whangarei, but come the weekend, it will be all on.
