Current NABBA Mr. New Zealand title holder for Open Tall Physique Aaron Vaisigano took out his third overall Mr. Hawke's Bay title last night in Taradale. He'll now focus on defending his Mr. New Zealand title at the Nationals.

It was a full house last night at Taradale High School hall where the NABBA Hawke's Bay show was hosted for the 11th year.

"Exactly 10 years ago this was my first show as junior, I was 19 and I'm 29 now, and this is my 18th show, I'm in the Open Men's Division now and I'm going for my third overall Mr. Hawke's Bay title," says Vaisigano

The competition was special for him as he took the stage to perform his set accompanied by a live music performance with his older sister Seta Vaisigano, who sang her rendition of Zayn's Pillowtalk.

"I've seen Aaron grow up and dedicate his whole life to bodybuilding and helping people, so to be able to step onto that stage with someone like that, I can't find the words, I'm just in awe," says his sister.

All the months of hard work and sacrifice has paid off for Vaisigano as he scooped the Tall Physique winner and achieved his goal of being named the overall Mr. Hawke's Bay winner for a third time.

Speaking backstage after his win, he says he gave it everything he had, despite being tired he stuck to his plan and achieved his goals, "I just persevered, I've only been living on three hours sleep a night, I was that determined to win."

However, the journey is not over as he looks ahead to defend his Mr. New Zealand title at the NABBA Nationals, which will be held in Napier this year over Labour Weekend.

"I want to be two times Mr. New Zealand and this is my hometown so I'm going to be defending it, man!"
