Tohu Harris stays positive despite World Cup decision

Melbourne Storm back-rower Tohu Harris was the unlucky player to lose his spot in the Kiwis World Cup team after a late decision to include Sonny Bill Williams in the squad.

Tohu's family are disappointed for their son and have cancelled their trip to the Rugby League World Cup in England next month.

Melbourne Storm talent Tohu Harris has proved he is a force to be reckoned with on the field.

Originally Harris made Steve Kearney's 24 man-squad for the World Cup, but he’s been bumped for Sonny Bill Williams.

This decision was an especially disappointing blow for Tohu and his family.

Sonny Bill Williams took to twitter to apologise to Tohu with this message “I'm really sorry about the Tohu situation it was never my intention I just followed my heart, now I promise I'll play with all of it."

Henare Heke is a close family friend who coached Tohu when he was in the Hawkes Bay under 16s team.

He too is disappointed for his friend but says there are no hard feelings and the Tohu’s focus should be on the bright future ahead of him.

Although, the family are disappointed with the decision, in a statement through Tohu's agent, his parents Paul and Dale want to thank everyone for the support they have received for their son.

Instead of heading to the World Cup, the family will go to the Storms prize giving instead.
