The first day of competition at the Pacific Regional CrossFit competition began today in Wollongong, Australia.

It was the teams that got everything underway followed by the individual athletes, all having to complete two intense workouts.  Games Director Dave Castro even popped in for the first time here.

New Zealand athletes giving it their all has not gone unnoticed by games Director Dave Castro.

Dave Castro says, “New Zealanders are representing hard - they represent at the top and I like that and they're in their all black uniforms, it’s exactly what you would expect from the Kiwis.”

The teams got put through their paces during the first WOD (Workout of the Day), partner lifts at 185kg.

Puawai Munro-Halkyard says, “Go as fast as possible! That's always pretty much the plan.”

Followed by synchronised partner chest to bar pull ups.

Adam Wanstall says, “Yeah, the synchronised part of it was more challenging than others you have to make sure you're really communicating with your partner.”

With the first day done and dusted, it's all about recovery in preparation for the next two days of competition.
