The Independent Police Conduct Authority has revealed that the two policemen who shot 33-year-old Vaughan Te Moananui in Thames last year were "justified".  Te Moananui was fatally shot in May 2015 by two members of the Armed Offenders Squad when he ignored multiple appeals for him to drop his weapon.  Read more here.

Three members of staff at the Paremoremo prison required medical treatment after being assaulted by a group of prisoners yesterday afternoon.  Police were called to Auckland Prison, known widely as Paremoremo, after a report that five prisoners had attacked a small group of workers.  The Department of Corrections confirmed the attack.  

The All Blacks team to take on Australia in the third Bledisloe Test at Eden Park this weekend has been announced.  Three changes will be made to the All Blacks squad. Winger Julian Savea will play in the number 11 jersey, and Aaron Cruden and Malakai Fekitoa have been named in the replacements.  Read more here.
