New Zealand Olympian Sarah Cowley has retired after 15 years of competitive athletics. Cowley, 30, represented New Zealand at the 2012 London Olympics in the heptathlon.

She also competed in High jump at the Glasgow games, where she made the final but didn't threaten the medals, Cowley reassessed her commitment to the sport.

Cowley said her next challenge was a career in sports broadcasting, and plans to continue working as a New Zealand Olympic Schools Ambassador and complete her communications degree.
