This month, the Northern Districts Māori cricket side is heading to the Cook Islands for a week-long tour, a first for Māori cricket.
The Māori team will play seven 20/20 games on the tour. They will face the Cook Islands national side, and to help with the development of cricket in the islands, they will also play the women's side.
In addition, the trip is about developing Māori players for the future.
The Māori team is unfortunately without their more high profile players like Trent Boult and Tamati Clarke due to other commitments, but they still expect to compete well.
The team departs for Rarotongā on September 21.
