Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui and Ngāti Pūkenga welcomed the National Māori Golf championships this afternoon with players testing the course today as momentum builds for the start of the competition.

According to supporter Kingi Porima, “Firstly, it's the youth who are very talented at this sport at the moment, but the older generation who feel they are fit are also here to showcase their talent. We will see who wins and who doesn't on Friday.”

The tournament is expecting over 500 players over the next five days as registrations closed today and the competition this year promises to be of a high standard.
