It was a fierce battle between the Māngere Hawks and the Mt Albert Lions in round 12 of the Fox Memorial competition.

It was the home side, Māngere, who found the line first, easily scoring in the right corner.  But it wasn't long before the visitors came back to gain four points.

A few minutes later, Mt Albert was back again to score after spotting no defenders in the right corner to lead 6-8 at half-time.

In the second half Māngere wasn't ready for the kick-off, Mt Albert quickly took advantage of that scoring a try.

Mt Albert answered again landing another try for the side. However a quick outburst by Māngere's halfback managed to get his team to 10 points.

But it was Mt Albert who had the last say, scoring two tries in 10 minutes.

The rain started to belt down on full-time horn, but Mt Albert still managed to secure their fourth try of the second half, to win the match 36-10.
