Māori league boys hopeful for place in NZ U18

By Rahia Timutimu

Erin Clark was one of 40 U18 boys trying to prove himself at the NZRL performance camp this week.

The Ngāpuhi league player will join the Parramatta Eels developmental squad next season, but at the moment his main focus is on making the NZ U18 team.

Someone else who wants to make the U18 side is Reuben Porter.

Reuben says, “It would be a dream, definitely, I’ve repped U16 but U18 is a big level, I’ve been in U17 too."

He's signed with the Sydney Roosters and just returned from the Glasgow Nines exhibition tournament.

With the NZ U18 team named in the coming weeks, there's no doubt these two Māori boys will have a bright future regardless.
