Lisa Carrington of Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki has won her second gold medal at the Canoe Racing World Championships in Milan.
After claiming her first gold in the women’s K1 500m, she has won her second gold in the K1 200m sprints.
This is the first time Carrington has claimed the 500m title, having only won silver and bronze in the past, however this year marks her fourth consecutive win in the K1 200m final.
She won gold at the 2012 London Olympics in the K1 200m class, and now Carrington is a favourite for the Rio Olympics in 2016.
With her recent victory and her sights set on the Rio Olympics next year, Lisa Carrington will speak to Taroi Black tonight on Te Kāea at 5.30pm.
