Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki's Lisa Carrington has eased her way into the K1 200m final after dominating in two heat races overnight in Rio.
Carrington maintained a strong start in both races, finishing in first place. She now has the chance to defend her Olympic gold medal title.
39.56 seconds was her fastest time, with Azerbaijan's Osypenko-Radomska finishing at 39.80 seconds.
Carrington will now race in the K1 200m final on Wednesday 17 August at 12:47am NZDT.
