Over 200 netball teams have converged in Rotorua for the Kurungaituku Netball Tournament which has been running for 81 years.
According to TJ McClutchie, “We have the chance to gather as umpires from around the North Island and just contemplate the changes that are currently taking place in NZ netball as umpires and we get to work alongside new colleagues.”
This weekend belongs to the social grades, and for Western Suburbs Tumeke team from New Plymouth, this year marks their sixth year coming to Rotorua.
Moana Manu (Western Suburbs Tumeke) says, “We like the fun, meeting the new girls, enjoying ourselves. We go out and have a good time win or lose, as long as everyone is smiling.”
Next weekend, Kurangaituku continues with the arrival of the competitive teams some coming as far as Australia.
