Fullback Israel Dagg is back on home soil in Hawke's Bay after being released from All Black duties for two weeks, he'll be playing with his old team mates the Magpies in the ITM Cup as he looks to put his best foot forward ahead of World Cup selection.
A week on since dabbling in the rap game, Israel Dagg is back in town to support the boys for a couple of weeks in their ITM Cup campaign.
Israel Dagg says, "The body's real good actually knees are good, I had a bit of a niggly calf, which is why I didn't play much Super Rugby but at the moment it's feeling good.”
The man in black himself, fresh from rapping in Air New Zealand's latest air safety video which in one week has had over 2.5 million views.
“It's gone bloody crazy all over the world, I had people from Singapore ringing me and then CNN, it's pretty crazy it's been in all the papers around the world, it's something I could probably pursue outside of rugby, a bit of rapping or something."
He still has World Cup ambitions, with the Rugby World Cup team due to be announced on August 30. He hopes his name will be on that list.
"You want to represent your country especially on the big stage I've been to one and to be able to tell my kids that I've been to two would be pretty awesome but for me I know it's about getting these two weeks right." says Israel Dagg.
It's a vital two weeks ahead for Dagg, but whatever the outcome, it's likely he won't be swapping his rugby boots with a microphone any time soon.
