Injury puts Parker on hold

By Tamati Tiananga

Joseph Parker has proven why he's now the current NZ heavyweight champion.

Parker's win means he now holds one of two NZ heavyweight belts. The other belt is held by Sonny Bill Williams, but a fight between the two doesn't look likely anytime soon.

Te Kāea can confirm that Robert "The Butcher" Berridge will take on Daniel McKinnon before the end of the year, with Berridge easily getting past his Argentinean opponent last night.

Shane Cameron made an appearance at last night's event and is said to be hungry to get back in the ring. But Parker admits he won't be fighting the former NZ champion.

However, Parker says he would rather focus on a shot at Sonny Bill Williams within the next six months.
