The Hurricanes have started their road trip to the East Coast landing in Gisborne this morning. It is the first time they have been back to the Coast since 2009.
The team was greeted to a warm welcoming at, Te Poho o Rāwiri Marae to kick off their week-long stay on the East Coast.
Local boy Blade Thomson is looking forward to the week ahead in his home town.
“Gizzy will love it, everyone up the Coast, everyone on the East Coast is going to embrace, even the boys here and I think it’s going to be a good week,” says Blade.
Gisborne will be home for the Hurricanes over the next week, as they prepare for their first pre-season game against the Crusaders at Eketahuna on Saturday.
