Seven of the 12 Tall Ferns players are based in Australia, four are based in America and only one is from here in New Zealand.
Jordan Hunter says, “It's been pretty competitive. The first trialling part was really competitive, we had a good bunch of girls.”
Hunter is shining in a team of international talent.
Kennedy Kereama says, “She had a stand out season in WBC this year and I guess now coming back into the camp environment with a lot of our WNBL players and our best players in New Zealand, I think it's been a great challenge for her.”
The mix of styles is working well.
“I think we all try and get under what coach wants. He wants a quick fast team and I guess it helps that America and Aussie both play that style too,” says Hunter.
She has her eyes set on her goals. Hunter says, “I think for this year is to beat the Aussies, but yeah to qualify for the Olympics.”
The first step to that goal will take place tonight against Chinese Taipei B in their first game of the William Jones Cup.
