The four-day tournament produced an exciting final as the home team North Shore took on the defending champions from Howick Pakuranga.
Beth Reid was the only female to take the diamond pitch, playing catcher for the home side, encouraging and pushing her team throughout the tournament, while having fun.
The challengers took every opportunity that came as the match heated up with the North Shore coach stepping in on two occasions to seek confirmation on umpire decisions.
North Shore withstood a late fight back in front of their home crowd, holding on to become the new National Champions of the U13 Ripken Tournament.
