By Raniera Harrison

Māori cricketer, Zak Gibson flies off to compete in the biggest competition of his life.  He 's going battle it out at the 2016 ICC U19 World Cup in Bangladesh with the hope to excel in all aspects at an international level.

Final preparations are underway.  Gibson (Ngāti Raukawa) is off on a plane to the international cricket stage.

He says he's pretty overwhelmed at the moment, "Looking forward to getting over to this new country and experiencing it all.  Can't wait!"

Today, the Black Caps U19 side left the country and begin preparations to compete at the 2016 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh.

Travel to Dubai for a couple of weeks, then over to Bangladesh for the big dance.

A dance that will see 16 teams come together, a first time for Gibson.

There's only one person in fact, who can make him bowl just a tad quicker.  Keeping in mind, some of these players will be the Black Caps of tomorrow.

The U19 Cricket World Cup runs from January 27 to February 14.
