Auckland Women's topple Manawatū in ITM match

By Wikitōria Day

Week seven of the ITM Women's Provincial Rugby Championships saw Auckland battle against Manawatū.  Although the home team, Manawatū, fought their hardest to outdo their opposition, it was in fact Auckland who came out on top, winning the match 39-8.

It was Auckland who came out fighting right from the get-go.  Their attack was second to none, eventually leading them to scoring their first try.

Manawatu put up a good fight, however, Auckland proved too strong and broke down that line to score yet another try.

With only a metre away from the try line.  The ball was fed out to Crystal Mayes and she finished it off.

It didn't take long for the city based team to make a come back.  Their team work meant they were able to draw closer to their try-line.  Kiritapu Demant was successful.

Seconds before half time, Shannon Leota scores her second try.

The story was much the same in the second half.  Auckland finished off the game with a further three tries ultimately winning the match 39-8.

At the end of next week, Auckland will battle against Otago, Otago will also be oposition for Manawatū in two weeks.
