At the Aotearoa Māori Netball Tournament held in Mt Maunganui this weekend, the level of competition was higher. Now in its 27th year, the top teams Te Ikaroa ki te Tonga and Te Raki Paewhenua came out the best of the best.
Tapeni Simmons has been involved in the tournament for six years. She says the level of competition gets better every year.
This year's two top senior teams, Ikaroa ki te Tonga and Te Raki Paewhenua went head to head.
Come half-time it was 20-nil, to Ikaroa ki te Tonga
In the end Ikaroa ki te Tonga was too much for Te Raki Paewhenua, winning 38-4 in the premier division.
