New Zealand First has elected new deputy leader Fletcher Tabuteau who hails from Ngāti Ngararanui, Ngāti Rangiwewehi and Ngāti Whakaue who replaces former deputy Ron Mark.
Heta Gardiner has been a reporter since 2009, cutting his teeth at the Auckland newsroom for Te Karere, then moving to be a European correspondent until 2013. After returning from London, Heta became a Wellington-based reporter with Te Karere.
Being in Television since 2007, Heta has gained a wealth of experience with work for Te Karere, as well as reporting for CODE on Māori Television, Marae, and One News.
This descendant of Te Arawa, Ngāi Te Rangi, and Ngāti Ranginui now moves to the Press Gallery in Parliament for Te Kāea.
Heta has a keen interest in sports, with a passion for politics and the revitalisation of Te Reo Māori.
