Māori lawyer Willow-Jean Prime has declared her intention to run in the Northland by-election.
The seat has become vacant after National MP Mike Sabin resigned from Parliament last week forcing a by-election in the North.
According to Prime, “I'm standing to give Northland a stronger voice in Parliament and I feel that I'm the right person to do the job.”
Prime and husband Dion have only just returned home after the birth of their first daughter, Hihana. Prime knows she faces a tough road ahead of her.
“Yes, there are some challenges ahead for us and our baby but with the support of my partner and our family. I know we can do the job. Success cannot be achieved by one person alone, but by many,” says Prime.
A date for the by-election is yet to be set, but for now her attention will turn to the newest addition to the whānau and support member of her campaign team.
