Police have released the name of the 37-year-old man who died after he was dropped off at the St John Ambulance Station in Whangarei yesterday morning. He was John Henry Harris.

Mr Harris, who was a member of the Tribesmen Motorcycle Club, was in a critical condition when dropped off outside the station. He died soon after from gunshot wound to the chest.

Detective Inspector Kevin Burke says police have now identified two addresses of interest in both Central Whangarei and north of Whangarei. Scene examinations continue at both properties and at the station.

Police are also wanting to hear from anyone who may have seen two vehicles that could be crucial evidence in the investigation. One vehicle is a red 2007 Holden Commodore GTS registration JCS248, the  other vehicle is a black 2011 Holden Commodore SS registration FZC162.

Mr Harris' death comes after that of Otangarei man Moses Mahanga. Police say there is no connection between both incidences.
