Two teenagers will go on trial over the death of 15-year-old Stephen Dudley after a West Auckland school rugby training session.

Stephen was allegedly assaulted by the two teenagers, and despite being rushed to Auckland City Hospital, he died a short time later.

That night, two youths aged 15 and 17 were charged with manslaughter.

Suppression orders over the boys' names and their school's name are in place. The pair appeared today in the High Court at Auckland, where they both pleaded not guilty. The trial is scheduled to begin in February.

Family and friends of Stephen Dudley described him as a talented and loving young boy and the community as a whole was devastated following his death.
